Institute for History and Anthropology of Religions (IHAR)
The principal task of the IHAR is the study of religions as cultural productions. The focus will be on modernity, and the work will be carried out in accordance with both a broad historical-comparative perspective and a methodology of theoretical thought. The professors attached to this institute are Jacques Ehrenfreud (History of Jews and Judaism), Christian Grosse (History and Anthropology of Modern Christianities), Silvia Mancini (Historiography and Epistemology of the History of Religions, Transversal and Marginalized Religious Traditions) and Raphaël Rousseleau (Anthropology of indian and indigenous worlds).
Swiss-French Institute for Biblical Studies (IRSB)
The mission of the IRSB is to promote research in the field of Biblical Sciences, to contribute to the biblical sciences program of the Master’s degree in Theology, to establish a program of advanced education in Biblical Sciences, to manage tertiary French-speaking or analogous programs, to provide a wide audience with services that stimulate knowledge and thought pertaining to the Biblical Sciences, in collaboration with tertiary, university, university extension programs or other institutions.
Institute for Social Sciences of Religions (ISSR)
The principle task of the ISSR is the analysis of religions in the contemporary world, and especially in Switzerland, from the viewpoint of the social sciences. The disciplines principally concerned are the sociology of religions, psychology and the social psychology of religions, as well as the anthropology of religions. The period that is principally treated is contemporaneity. The professors attached to this institute are Irene Becci (Religious Emergence and New Spiritualities), Pierre-Yves Brandt (Psychology of Religion), Monika Salzbrunn (Religions, Migration and Diasporas) and Jörg Stolz (Sociology of Religions). The Observatory of Religions in Switzerland (ORS), established in 1999, is now part of the ISSRC and constitutes one of its principle research poles.

Interdisciplinary Center of History and Sciences of Religions (CIHSR)
The CIHSR is one of the interfdisciplinary centers of the University of Lausanne. It is responsible for coordinating research activities in the field of the scientific study of “religions” and organizes an annual conference, as well as an interdisciplinary colloquium every two years. It also contributes to organizing other colloquia and conferences related to the scientific study of “religions”. It provides a focus for thought and permanent education with a view to regular contacts with researchers and teachers of other universities, by maintaining regular collaborations with several similar institutions in Europe (for example, the École Pratique des Hautes Études and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales of Paris, the University of Geneva, or again the University of Aarhus in Denmark).
