One of the ways of achieving a minimum of 40% women in new appointments to professorships is to monitor recruitment procedures from an “equality” perspective. In its Equality Action Plan 2017-2020, UNIL decided to reorganize its monitoring to make it more effective and as a result, guarantee equality of treatment.
Following a review, the former Equality Committee, made up of professors and senior lecturers, was dissolved in 2017. An expert from the Equal Opportunities Office now participates in the work of the recruitment committees, as a member with a consultative role, and authority to monitor the level of consideration given to equality of opportunities for women and men by the committee.
The Equal Opportunities Office also monitors statistics relating to the recruitment of professors.
