The aim of the “Tremplin" grants is to increase the number of women likely to submit an application for a professorship. In practical terms, it aims to help the next generation of female academics to take the next step in their career, by offering them an additional opportunity to enhance their scientific profile (through research, publications, a period spent abroad, etc.).
A maximum of CHF 25'000 can be requested to provide cover for the applicant (for 12 months at most). The applicant must be released from their teaching, supervisory and administrative tasks, to be able to focus primarily on her research. The recipient’s contract remains in place during the period, and she continues to receive her salary. From 2019 on, "Tremplin" grants can also be requested to fund the salary of a collaborator who will temporarily provide support for technical research tasks.
